Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a safe and Happy New Year and are ready to take 2021 on. It's so wild that we've made it to another year; 2020 was definitely nothing like any of us could have imagined but we can start this year off with new goals, new intentions and different mindset.  I'm not much of a resolution person and never have been but this year I really wanted to set some goals for myself and thought I would share some of those with you guys. Some of those are career goals and some are goals geared towards my blog and social media. This might give you a few ideas for some goals you can set for yourself as well. I also want to make a vision board, something else I've never done, but I want to have something tangible that I can look at everyday and use to push me to grind to make those goals happen.

* Hit 20K on Instagram - This is a big goal for me. The first step is obviously hitting 10K and I'm so close (if you're not following me, you should! lol @ChaneyaJoyner) to hitting that goal that it hurts but I would love to grow my following which will open up more opportunities. Numbers aren't everything but in the world of Social Media, it definitely does! Also with hitting 10K I'll have the ability to have the swipe-up feature and be able to share links in my stories which will be more accessible to you guys versus having to go looking for what I'm sharing.

* Workout regularly - I know, I know, everyone always talks about reaching some kind of fitness goal but this is one I like to keep in mind every year. 2020 I was not motivated to workout and although my weight didn't change on the scale with me eating whatever I wanted (I did keep track of my weight) I could see the change in my body composition. I looked back at old photos and missed how I looked even though in those photos, I was working out 5-6x a week, drank lots of water while still eating my favorite foods. I really want to either find a Zumba Instructor out near me or really use my apartment gym to do workouts. Also with working out goes taking care of your body. We live in this hustle culture where if you're not running yourself in to the ground then you're not working hard enough and that if you're hustling nonstop and doing all these things, using that as validation of who you are as a person and that you're better than everyone else. I've learned that you need to take care of your body and that doesn't only mean physically but mentally. If you're not mentally ok, it doesn't matter if you're working out all the time. You

* Share more content on my blog - Again, I did not feel motivated to share tons of content and I felt like given the nature of what was happening this year it just quite didn't feel right. I don't know what it was but I think I also got in my head and started comparing myself to others which resulted in me not sharing much over here."Comparison is the thief of joy" and boy did it steal my joy. I let myself sit back and watch others kill it thinking, "I could do that," and never sharing the ideas I had. My blog is about to be 4 years old (SO CRAZY!!) and I'm so proud of myself for starting this little space and want to see it grow. I know not everyone reads blogs but I want to continue to be a resource for you that do choose to stick around and let you guys in more.

* Dive in to Video Content - I've gotten requests to do video content over the years and have never really done it. I have come to like editing here and there but I would love to really dive in and share more video content with you guys. One thing I really want to get in to is Youtube! I've wanted to do youtube since I was in high school (y'all, that's been over 10 years now!!) but was always too scared to do it. I'm hoping this year I have the guts to do it and have you alls support if I venture in to that field.

* Appreciate the small things - If 2020 taught me anything, it taught me to appreciate the small things. A whole year flipped upside down but choosing to find the good is crucial. I plan on writing down one thing everyday of 2021: A funny moment, something that made me smile, an experience. I want to be able to look back on what happened throughout 2021 next December and remember all those moments and see all the little things I appreciated. It's so easy to be negative and I saw A LOT of that in 2020, understandable, but I'm choosing to think positively and appreciate the small things!

* Continue showing up! - For me this falls under a career goal. I was very fortunate to keep my job in 2020 and with that I made it a goal of mine to prove that I was indeed a valuable employee and worth them keeping. I made my name known to people that I've only only ever heard from through emails that are sitting in high places and I'm proud of that. I continued to push myself even when my only competition was MYSELF and stepped in when additional help was needed and I wasn't asked. I hope that this year allows for financial growth in my job and potentially growth in a new position if God sees fit. Ya girl is trying to make some moves.

These are just some of my goals I've set for myself in 2021. I'm hoping this year is better than the last and that we all can make some of the things we want happen! I would love to know what's one of your goals for 2021. Let me know in the comments below or leave me a comment on todays Instagram post.
