Happy First Day of Spring! Spring has become one of my favorite seasons; the cold weather is slowly going away to make room for the warm weather, the grass gets greener and it's time to get cleaning. I don't know about you, but growing up we always did Spring cleaning as a way to get rid of old things and declutter. As I've become older I toke it one step further and declutter my life: meaning letting go of negativity and things that aren't making me happy. In no ways am I going all Marie Kondo with my belongings, but I do make it a point to clear my space and my mind to start a new season fresh and organized. Here are some ways you can do a little Spring cleaning for yourself.
*Clean out your closet!*
This one is the most common. Get rid of all those clothes you said you would wear last year and know you're not going to wear. Be realistic with what you're keeping and what can actually go. One thing I heard that really does help you when deciding what to keep is taking every thing out of your closet and put pieces back in one at a time; this way you're able to see everything and you'll be surprised what you actually find in your closet that you forgot you had. Donate/Sell the things you no longer want and find them a new home.
*Clear out your schedule*
Think about how you're spending your time; are you putting your your time and energy towards the things that are truly important. If you constantly feel like you're never completing your to-do list everyday that might be a red flag that you need to re-evaluate what you have going on. Make sure you're taking time for yourself and scheduling things that make you happy.
*Clean out your relationships*
Think about the relationships you have and how they're currently going. Are you happy being around those people? Do you feel negativity or judgment? If you answered yes, it might be time to let go of those toxic relationships and focusing on the great friends you do have.
*Change up your workouts/diet*
I'm sure the "New Year, new me" motivation has probably worn off by now. Try finding new workouts that you enjoy that allow you to keep reaching your fitness goals while rekindling your love for fitness. If you're over the same meals, try changing up your diet (I like to call it healthy lifestyle) with new snacks, meals or even just seasonings that make you excited for the food you're putting in your body!
*Check in on your year*
Take a look at how your year is going: are you doing the things you set out to do? Are you working towards your goals? Think about how you can improve on what you're currently doing that with positively impact your goals for the rest of the year.
*Clear out your technology*
We all know there's an app for everything and everything is becoming more digital. Clear out your apps, texts, contacts, social media. Unfriend people that you don't really care for unfollow those social media pages that are negative. Rid your life of those people and pages to live more stress free.
Those are just a few ways you can Spring clean your way into this new season. If there is something else you do every year to Spring clean, I would love to hear it. Leave a comment below or on tonights Instagram post letting me know!
