Be More Thankful!

Monday, September 23, 2019

Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed a trend of people complaining a lot more about things going on in their life; whether it be things like house chores, not liking certain things about their jobs or just other frivolous things about life. I get so frustrated when I hear friends complain about things like their health and weight when they're not doing anything to change their situation. The amount of times I've heard, "Oh I don't have time to work out!!" or "You don't have children so you don't understand how much harder it is to get to the gym!" It's all mindset! Or when I hear people complain about hating their jobs and aren't doing everything they can to fully understand their new role or truly give that job enough time to decide they "hate" it. I'm in no way saying I'm perfect at always being thankful and have my fair share of times where I let myself get to that point where I complain about things going on but I have to stop and remind myself that I have so much to be thankful for. We get so wrapped up in all the negatives going on or the things we deem as "bad" in our lives and forget to give gratitude towards all the positives. I wanted to share 5 things I'm thankful for that I maybe don't show gratitude towards enough.

1. My new job
This is one that I honestly do think about how thankful I am to be in this new role at a different company; I told myself back in the beginning of June I was going to find a new job and be in a new role but July and I made it happen. I was not happy at my previous office and knew I wanted more for myself career wise and financially. This job checked both boxes for me and has allowed me to be happier on a daily basis when going to work.

2. My friends
If you don't know, I'm very much an Introvert. I thrive off time spent alone and honestly need a good amount of alone time to recharge my social battery and just to feel happier in general. I've learned this about myself a lot over the past few years and have become very unapologetic about NEEDING alone time.  Although I know they don't understand at times and give me slack about not going out more often they still invite me to things and include me in everything since they're my best friends. They always support me even when I'm in my hermit moods and I always have the best time when I do make my way out and go out with them.

3. Theo
I have the best four-legged friend and he truly is the best gift that keeps on giving. Theo is my right hand man and is always by my side. I love how playful he is and am thankful to have him as a pet. If you're ever on the fence about getting a dog, definitely do it! You won't regret it! You never realize how much you could love an animal and include them in all aspects of your life and make them a part of your family.

4. My Blog
My blog has kind of taken a seat on the back burner here and there during the last few months because things got so hectic and crazy with switching jobs and getting in to a new routine but I love my little corner of the internet. I love sharing my love of fashion with you guys and showing you that you can look great while not breaking the bank. This blog has given me the best outlet and I'm so thankful I have this small platform. I can't wait to see where this little blog goes as time goes on and how we can continue to grow this little fam.

5. Being Different
In the blogging world if you haven't noticed there's A LOT of people that look VERY similar. I love that I look different and don't fit in to the stereotypical cookie cutter mold of what 90% of other bloggers fall in to. This isn't throwing any shade to anyone else but I am thankful to look different and embrace that. I think we always are wishing we looked like someone else or wish we could change something else about ourselves versus being thankful for the things we do like about ourselves! Give yourself a compliment ladies!

These are just a few things that I'm thankful for and I hope I've inspired you to think about the things you're thankful for in your own life. I challenge you to think about 3 things you're thankful for and write them down. Everyday this week, I want you to read that list and see how it changes your mindset for the day and how it changes the course of your day! I would love to hear what you're thankful for in the comments of my Instagram post tonight here!
